BOURGET and METHOT Genealogy

Maternal Side

Elisabeth Anne FLYNN -- b. September 18, 1868, Grand Riviere, Gaspé. M. Simon METHOT. Simon's father's name was Jacques Methot. They had eight children as follows:

  • Elisabeth Anne (Annie) Methot -- b. January 31, 1889, baptized Feb 1, 1889 in Notre-Dame Church, Grande Riviere, Gaspée by Rev. Durette. M. Alfred BOURGET on April 2, 1923 in Hull, Quebec. They had five children (Lousie Elisabeth, Corinne, George Willbrod, Silfred, Arthur).
  • Simon Methot -- b. January 26, 1890, baptized in Notre-Dame Church, Grand Riviere in Gaspée by Rev. Durette.
  • Marie Eva Methot -- b. January 5, 1892, baptized in Notre-Dame Church, de la Grand Riviere, in Gaspee, by Rev. Durette. M. a first cousin, last name was Flynn. The Flynns ran a rooming house in Montreal and had four children (three are known: Elise, Allen, Margarete). Allen Flynn inherited the boarding house from his mother.
  • Marie Laura Methot -- b. January 26, 1894, baptized January 27, 1894, Notre-Dame Church, Grande Riviere, Gaspée by Rev. Lariner.
  • Camille Arthur Methot -- b. January 2, 1896, baptized January 3, 1896 in Notre-Dame Church, Grande Riviere, Gaspée by Rev. Lariner.
  • George Edmond Methot -- b. December 21, 1899, baptized December 22, 1899 in Notre-Dame Church by Rev. Lariner.
  • Joseph Willbrod Methot -- b. June 10, 1901 (first-born of twins), baptized June 16, 1901 at Notre-Dame de grace in Hull, by Rev. Bellmorr.
  • Joseph Wilfred Methot- b. June 10, 1901 (second-born of twins), baptized June 16, 1901 in Notre-Dame de grace Church in Hull, by Rev. Bellmorr.

Paternal Side

Mother was Louise BOURGET. She had eight children and was originally from Gaspée/Hull area of Quebec. The family lived on a farm. Alfred Bourget -- b. December 19, 1884, worked as a carpenter. Fell off a church room at the age of 16 (approx 1900) and broke his leg. M. Elisabeth Anne (Annie) Methot on April 2, 1923.

Sister: O. Bourget, married name PERUISSE, had 17 children. Last known to reside in the Montreal area. Names of a few of the children are: Ludger Peruisse, Bourget Peruisse, Janenne Peruisse, Marcell Peruisse and Yvette Peruisse. Yvette had a fight with her family and left home approximately 1938-39. She was never known to contact her family again.

Brothers: Joseph, Arthur, Philoise (?), Silfred, John. Joseph and Alfred moved to Boston, MA. John moved to Maine. Silfred remained and inherited the family farm in Gaspée/Hull area.

Sister: Corinne, married name was CHARRON. Last known to live in Montreal area and was godmother to four of her sister's 17 children.

Several summers between 1937-1940 my mother stayed with Gordon and Ernestine Patterson (distant cousins to Elisabeth Anne Methot) who lived on a farm in Quebec.
